UniFi Fibre Broadband FREE Equipment
What Is a Broadband Termination Unit (BTU)?
A Broadband Termination Unit (BTU) is a device installed inside your home that connects your premises to the TM Access Network (TM Exchange).
Its main function is similar to a modem — it converts the light signals transmitted through fibre optic cables into electrical signals that your home network can use.
Types of BTU Used
TM uses two types of BTU, depending on the type of premises:
1. FTTH BTU (Fibre-to-the-Home) – for Landed Properties
Designed for landed houses with direct fibre access.
2. Standard BTU – for High-Rise Units
Installed in apartments, condominiums, and other high-rise buildings.
Both BTU types support internet and telephone services through the back panel.
BTU Ports & Functions
Every BTU comes with:
-
2 × Phone Ports (RJ11)
Only one telephone line is provided with a UniFi subscription. -
4 × Internet Ports (RJ45)
Connect to your router, mesh nodes, or other network equipment.
This setup allows stable fibre connectivity for both internet and VoIP telephone services.
